What Data We Collect

Website Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site. This collects:

  • Pages visited and time spent on pages
  • Approximate geographic location (country/city level, not precise location)
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • How you arrived at the site (search engine, direct, referral)

Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish between visitors. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Comments

If you leave a comment on an article, we collect the data shown in the comment form: your name, email address, and website (if provided). We also collect your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

Comments and their associated data are retained indefinitely unless you request their removal. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you have a profile image.

Contact Forms

If you contact us through our contact form (powered by WPForms), we collect the information you provide – typically your name, email address, and message content. This data is stored in our WordPress database and used solely to respond to your enquiry.

Cookies

Our site uses the following cookies:

Essential cookies – required for the site to function (WordPress session cookies, security cookies from Wordfence).

Analytics cookies – set by Google Analytics to track site usage (as described above). These expire after 2 years of inactivity.

Data Retention

  • Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months (default GA4 setting).
  • Comment data is retained indefinitely unless you request removal.
  • Contact form submissions are retained until they are no longer needed to address your enquiry, then deleted.

  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

We do not sell personal information. You are entitled to know what data we collect, request its deletion, and not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

Children’s Privacy

Dewsia is not directed at individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
