Shiseido has won two awards at Spikes Asia 2026 in Singapore, including a Grand Prix in the Design category. The company said on March 23 that the recognition went to two projects focused on Japanese cultural expression and preservation.

Award-Winning Projects

According to Shiseido, “BEST AFTER 2055” received the Grand Prix for a project built around preserving Ogi Miso, a local food tradition from Ogi Island in western Japan. The company said the work used canned miso and the message “this may be the last Ogi Miso” to highlight the risk of disappearance as the island’s population ages and declines.

Shiseido said the project was selected from 109 entries in the Design category and also made the shortlist in Brand Experience & Activation and Product Design. The company described the work as a collaboration with island residents and said it was developed after its involvement with the Setouchi Triennale.

Japanese Aesthetics in Brand Communication

The second award went to “MAKEUP CALLIGRAPHY,” which received Bronze in the Print & Publishing category. Shiseido said the project reinterpreted the Japanese New Year calligraphy tradition of kakizome by combining calligraphic form with the sounds of makeup application.

The company said around 900 greeting cards were sent to partners and stakeholders at the start of 2025. For beauty industry observers, the result shows how heritage-led visual storytelling continues to serve as part of Shiseido’s broader brand communication strategy.

I'm a journalist and editor with a background in trade publishing. I started Dewsia because the Asian beauty market - and Vietnamese skincare in particular - had no dedicated English-language editorial coverage. Not blogs, not influencer content: reporting. Brand histories, market data, regulatory shifts, and ingredient sourcing. Dewsia covers the full scope - news and analysis across Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese beauty - with a focus on the markets and brands that Western media overlooks.
